The Food Bank of Northwest Louisiana received a very generous donation from the Walmart Foundation to help feed over 65,000 people in Northwest Louisiana. A $90,000 refrigerated food truck was donated by the Walmart Foundation to help deliver fresh food from retailers to the Food Bank of Northwest Louisiana.With the addition of the new refrigerated truck the Food Bank of Northwest Louisiana and Feeding America will be able to provide food an additional 12,800 meals per week to those suffering from hunger right here close to home.

“We are overjoyed with the generous donation from the Walmart Foundation,” said Martha Marak, Executive Director of Food Bank of Northwest Louisiana. “We appreciate the partnership with the Walmart Corporation and their willingness to help the food insecure members of our community.”

The vehicle donated to The Food Bank of Northwest Louisiana is among 20 refrigerated food trucks and 15 mobile pantries valued at $4 million that the Walmart Foundation is donating to 33 Feeding America food banks nationwide. The donation is part of Walmart’s $19 million giving campaign to help U.S. nonprofits dedicated to fighting hunger and providing other basic needs.
