Ever since elementary school, I knew that I had to wear green on St. Patrick's Day. But, I never really knew why I would get pinched if I wasn't wearing green. So, why do we wear green on St. Patrick's Day? It's funny that in Ireland, green was considered unlucky. Blue was the original color associated with the holiday. Eventually, green took over. It could be because of the "Emerald Isle," the green, white, and orange Irish flag, or the green clover that St. Patrick used to talk about Catholicism.

One legend says that wearing green made you invisible to leprechauns and if you weren't wearing green they would see you and pinch you.
