Water & Sewer Boss Barbara Featherston Answers Water Supply Safety Questions [VIDEO]

Thursday morning on NewsRadio 710 KEEL, Water and Sewer Director Barbara Featherston talked with Robert J Wright and Erin McCarty about the effects of the Red River flood on Shreveport's water supply.

Featherston made the point that despite handling 3 million gallons of wastewater a day in normal times, with the burden of the flooded Red, the city's system is now seeing 66 million gallons every 24 hours.

And amidst complaints from some neighborhoods about a "musty" taste in the water. Featherston explained:

"It's that earthy, musty flavor and it is not a problem. We typically have episodes of that in the Spring and Fall when temperatures change or when we get a lot of rain. It's nothing to worry about. It's still safe to drink. We add powdered activated carbon and that will take care of the problem."
