We expect spring storms, but what's up with these temps in the 40's in April.  We decided to take a look at the record books to see how cold it normally gets in Shreveport in April and May.

The record low April temperature in Shreveport for the last 58 years was 31 measured on April 11, 1989, while the average low daily temperature during the month is 54.  According to National Weather Service historical Shreveport April Weather data, on April 8, 1938, the high temperature did not exceed 40 degrees Fahrenheit, the lowest high measured in Shreveport in the past 58 years. Weather Service data also shows that on April 27, 1970, the lowest recorded temperature for the day did not drop below 75 degrees, the highest low measured temperature in Shreveport in the last 58 years.

OK, check out the numbers for May.  The record high May temperature in Shreveport for the last 58 years was 102 degrees and that was on May 18, 1998.  Our normal high temperature for the month is 83. The coldest May day in Shreveport for the past 58 years was 42 and that was on May 12, 1960, and the normal low daily temperature is 63.  According to National Weather Service Shreveport May Weather data, on May 2, 1978, the recorded high temperature did not exceed 56 degrees Fahrenheit, the lowest high measured in Shreveport in the past 58 years. The Weather Service additionally shows that on May 27, 1996, the low for the day did not drop below 79 degrees, the highest low temperature in Shreveport in the last 58 years.
