Devastating news coming out of West Baton Rouge.

According to WAFB 9 and reported by KSLA, a West Baton Rouge Sheriff's Deputy and her 21-year-old daughter were killed in a shooting on Tuesday in Pointe Coupee Parish. It's being called a double murder-suicide as Deputy Donna Leblanc and daughter Carli Jo were killed by suspected shooter Gregory Phillips. Leblanc is also the wife of a Louisiana State Trooper, Mark Whitmore.

West Baton Rouge Parish Sheriff Mike Cazes said Leblanc had been with the sheriff's office for 22 years.

Investigators were at the scene of the shooting around 4 p.m. on Tuesday. Reportedly, Phillips was an estranged neighbor who lives across the street from Leblanc. He approached her in her carport before "gunfire erupted." Authorities say Leblanc was able to get some shots off before Phillips shot. He then turned the gun on her daughter standing on the porch before shooting himself.

Leblanc's other daughter, who is nine years old, was the one who called for help.

Assistant District Attorney Tony Clayton says there was a security camera on Phillips' home that were directed at Leblanc's home. However, the camera was not working at the time of the shooting.
