What Does Cindy Have In Store For The Ark-La-Tex?

The third tropical storm of 2017 is bearing down on the Gulf Coast.   Potential tropical cyclone 3 became tropical storm Cindy around 1:30 this afternoon.  While Cindy is expected to make landfall near the Beaumont-Port Arthur area late Wednesday or early Thursday, the worst rainfall is expected east of the storm.

Storm conditions are expected to reach the coast of Louisiana later tonight.  In an interview with the Louisiana Radio Network, State climatologist Barry Keim said that we can expect "6 to 9 inches of rain in southeastern Louisiana, southern Mississippi, and south Alabama, with isolated totals between 10 and 15 inches."

Flash flood watches are in effect across south Louisiana through Thursday evening. Current models show the Shreveport-Bossier area getting 2-3 inches of rain, but that could certainly change as Cindy moves closer to land.
