Shreveport residents are very concerned about crime in our community and the numbers keep going up. But local political analyst Scott Hughes says that's not the number 1 reason people leave our city.

Hughes says the Shreveport population was at 199,311 in 2010 and that number has dropped to 197,204 in 2016.

Here's part 1 of our interview with Hughes:

Hughes says sales tax revenues are also down significantly in Shreveport. He says in 2014, the city took in 119 million in sales taxes. That number dropped to 117.9 million in 2015 and 117.6 million in 2016. He says sales tax revenues are down by about 3% this year.
