Where Is America on the List of the Top 10 Happiest Countries?

Is America happy? England's Organization for Economic Co-operation and Development used its Better Life Index, which measures several factors including community, housing and work-life balance, to determine the top 10 happiest places to live.

According to the organization, the US ranks number six, sandwiched between Switzerland and Denmark. America's Hat (otherwise known as Canada) grabbed the third place spot. Not bad, eh?

Australia topped the list as the number 1 happiest country. Why? Simple: it ranked higher in nearly every topic

"Australia performs exceptionally well in measures of well-being, as shown by the fact that it ranks among the top countries in a large number of topics in the Better Life Index," the OECD explained.

A more in-depth look at the US' rating revealed that the country ranked slightly higher than average when it came to percentage of people who have a paid job (67 percent to 66 percent). Workers also work more house on average a year -- 1787 hours to 1766 hours.
