"Facing Race" drew a few dozen people out in Shreveport to talk about the controversial topic. It was an open and free discussion.

The YWCA of Northwest Louisiana hosted the event as part of Black History Month. Much of the focus was on criminal justice and institutional racism. A couple of short videos were shown to spark the discussion.

Here's the first segment we watched:

The next video we watched was from former Sacramento Police Sergeant Renee Mitchell. Please watch this until the end. It's very powerful and delivers quite a message about how some of the things we do in police departments no longer works. In fact, one of the members of the audience at "Facing Race" asked if this talk could be shown to all police officers in our region.

Another session will be planned for the 2nd quarter of the year. We will let you know when it is scheduled because all voices are welcome.
