Whitney Houston Digital Books Hit the Internet
According to the Los Angeles Times, there are 14 just-released Whitney Houston Kindle e-books available on Amazon.com ranging in prices from 99 cents to $9.99. Most of the titles are fan tributes to the late songbird, a book of poems dedicated to Houston and a couple of unauthorized biographies. One book, in particular, is comprised entirely of Wikipedia pages about Houston’s life, her music and her movies. Really? Not to sound too critical, but a book composed of Wikipedia entries is not what a good autobiography is made of. But we digress.
Although none of the titles have hit Amazon’s Top 100 paid Kindle e-books list, they are attracting interest by Houston fans. One book that has cracked the threshold is the unauthorized biography ‘Whitney Houston We Love You Forever’ by Jean-Pierre Hombach. His Whitney book is selling briskly and is in the Top 20 of Amazon’s Kindle e-books list. Hombach has a good track record of writing biographies, having penned memoirs about Justin Beiber, Bob Marley and Beyonce.
We haven’t read any of these books, but the fact that those books haven’t cracked Amazon’s Top 10 shows that readers are looking for something more authoritative. And we can’t blame them.
We also believe there are probably a slew of legitimate historians and authors who are quietly writing well-researched biographies about Whitney Houston’s life. We just hope these books offer a fair and balanced look into the pop icon’s life and not the gossip.
