The rumors about Whole Foods delaying or cancelling plans to open a store in Shreveport are back on the front burner. But now we have noticed a major change. The Whole Foods sign that had been placed on the front of the building has been removed. Also, the sign in from with the Whole Foods logo is gone. A new sign for Sterling Properties has been put out in front of the property.

We did find crews working at the complex, but nothing about Whole Foods is visible at the site any longer.

Earlier this year when similar rumors surfaced Whole Foods issued this statement:

That is a rumor. Our team is working on the interior and we look forward to opening this Fall. There are no immediate plans for another store in the area. We will have more announcements in coming months, such as hiring, pre-opening activities and opening day. Have a great day!

KEEL News has reached out to Whole Foods management, but have not gotten a response. We did check the company's website to see if any local jobs have been posted, there was nothing mentioned about Shreveport jobs, but 16 other Louisiana Whole Foods jobs are posted.

Whole Foods has stores in New Orleans, Baton Rouge, Lafayette and Mandeville and employs nearly 1,000 people in the state.

The 39,000-square-foot store was originally set to be open in 2015, but that has repeatedly been pushed back. It is near the intersection of East 70th Street and Fern Avenue.
