The small tan moths in your yard do not pose a threat to your lawn, but their offspring do and you should act fast. Moths are the adult forms of Sod Webworms and these worms can destroy a healthy lawn.

The worms dig tunnels in your yard and feast on the your lawn. Yes, the large brown patches in your yard during the fall season could be an indication that Sob Webworms are present.

The easiest way to rid your lawn of these worms is to treat your yard with an insecticide. I did and I can already see an improvement in my lawn.

Reports say that if you get down on your knees and hands in your yard, you can actually see the small larvae feasting on your lawn.

So, if you see a lot of moths in your yard these days, this could be a good indication that their eggs have hatched and that your yard could be infected. Keep in mind, it's not the small tan moths in your yard that pose a threat to your grass, it's their larvae.
