In an interview with UK paper, The Sun, Will Smith admitted that marriage counseling saved his relationship with wife, Jada Pinkett Smith.

Rumors have circulated about the couple's marriage for years now, from divorce speculation to questions about whether or not the two have an open relationship. But now, Will Smith is clearing a few things up about his relationship.

"I've done a lot of marriage counseling," the 47 year-old actor said in the interview. "What happens in a marriage once you do counseling, the truth comes out. And you sit across from your wife and you've said all of your truth and she has said all of her truth."

So what happens after all of this "truth" is out in the open? You confront it, Smith says, and you acknowledge that the issues won't just go away overnight—that you have to fight through the low points.

"You look at each other and you can't imagine you could ever possibly love each other again now the truth is out," Smith, who has two children (Jaden, 18 and Willow, 15) with Jada Pinkett Smith says "It creates a dark moment. But for me it's the dark before the dawn."

He says that putting the truth out there for your partner to hear and digest makes the relationship stronger because that's the only way to get to what's real.

"When the truth comes out and people have to say who they are and what they think, you get to know who they are," he offered. "I think that's the cleansing before you get to the other side that is understanding and moving forward in our relationship."

In the end, he said that his wife is "magical" and that's part of what keeps him intrigued.

"Jada is magical," he affirmed. "Part of why I love her is things happen in a way they shouldn't happen, they shouldn't go that way. She has this magical power."
