Immediately following the July 11 premiere of SyFy's original movie Sharknado, fans instantly began clamoring for a sequel. We already know a Sharknado 2 is in the works, but will Tara Reid, who helped make the original movie an instant hit, be in the sequel?

According to Tara Reid herself, she is open to being a part of the Sharknado sequel. The actress tweeted out on Sunday that while there is no script for the movie yet, she would definitely read it when it was created.

also shot down rumors that Reid would not be included in the Sharknado sequel, saying, "We'd be lucky to have her back for the sequel."

David Latt, a producer at The Asylum who worked on Sharknado, went on record with The Hollywood Reporter to address the confusion over Reid's future with the burgeoning franchise.

"The short answer is: Nope. Tara is invited back," said Latt. "Honestly, I don't know where that [TMZ story] came from."

The success of Syfy's made-for-TV movie caught many off-guard -- probably not least of which actual Syfy execs. Following Sharknado's television premiere, the hashtag #Sharknado began trending on Twitter, and you couldn't even turn on actual news stations without hearing about it.

The network, which regularly delivers low-budget horror movies including the upcoming "Ghost Shark," confirmed that the Sharknado sequel should arrive sometime in 2014.
