A woman is now going back to jail after scamming her former cellmate out of $17,000 using a Power Of Attorney.

Caddo Sheriff’s deputies arrested Tawanda Daughtry for exploitation of persons with infirmities after she obtained a power of attorney from her mentally disabled cellmate and used it to remove $17,148 from the woman’s bank account. Daughtry had promised to use the legal document to pay the other woman’s probation fees and living expenses but instead used the money for personal gain.

Daughtry, 34, of the 600 block of Hyde Park in Shreveport, was arrested on Tuesday on a warrant obtained by Caddo Sheriff’s Detective Jeremy Edward. She was booked into the Caddo Correctional Center with a bond of $40,000.
