A woman is critically wounded after a shooting last night in Shreveport, and the man accused of shooting her is facing an attempted murder charge.

Shortly after 7:30 last night, police arrived at a home in the 6600 block of Liberty Street to find 39-year-old Mariam Harley suffering from several gunshot wounds. She was taken to University Health, where she remains in critical condition.

Detectives gathered information at the scene linking 48-year-old Steven Killingsworth of Grand Prairie, Texas, to the crime. Police say Killingsworth reportedly arrived at Harley's home unannounced and confronted her with a gun. When Harley tried to leave, Killingsworth allegedly opened fire, striking Harley multiple times.

Investigators say Harley and Killingsworth had dated previously and had recently ended their relationship.

Investigators recovered a gun at the scene believed to have been used in the shooting. Killingsworth was taken to University Health for injuries he suffered while being subdued by people at the scene of the crime. He'll be booked into the Shreveport City Jail on an attempted murder charged once he's released from the hospital.
