A young Shreveport woman faces charges after a 17-month-old child is found alone inside a car.

Police were called to a home in the 100 block of Bruce Avenue to a report of a missing child. Officers were told the little girl vanished after playing in the back yard of the home.

A search was conducted in the area, and the girl was found strepped into a safety seat inside a vehicle parked at the home. The child was evaluated by members of the Shreveport Fire Department and found to be OK.

It's believed the girl was left in the car for at least an hour before she was located. Shreveport detectives and Child Protective Services were notified and began an investigation. Preliminary information indicated the child had never been removed from the car and had not been in the back yard of the home.

Police arrested 22-year-old Macy Bates and charged her with child desertion and first-offense DWI, since she had driven around the neighborhood in search of the child.
