Worker Killed At Calumet Refinery

A worker at Calumet Lubricants was killed after an accident at the Shreveport refinery Friday.

The mishap occurred Friday morning about 9.

The employee, whose name has not been released, was taken from Calumet to University Health hospital where he died from injuries.

Calumet statement, in part:

"We are deeply saddened by this incident and offer our thoughts and prayers to the employee’s family, and ask for privacy on their behalf at this difficult time.

"The safety of our employees, contractors and the surrounding communities in which we operate is always our top priority, and we practice continuous improvement. We will learn from this incident to ensure that the necessary measures are in place in an effort to avoid future accidents."
