2020: There Has to Be a Penalty for Piling On [OPINION]
Is it just me or does 2020 keep throwing punch after punch without bothering to give us a chance to catch our breath? There's got to be a penalty for piling on at some point? Maybe a universal 'run rule?' I don't know about you, but I need a break!
Is anyone else concerned? Louisiana just weathered yet another storm, we're in the middle of a pandemic, going into Halloween weekend with a full moon, a time change, and half our men are or will be in a deer stand... days before a politically charged presidential election with an asteroid heading towards Earth... Or is this just life as we know it now?
Seriously, all of the above is true. Governor Greg Abbott, right next door in Texas, is even mobilizing the National Guard ahead of the election Tuesday to deter any potential rioting. To add insult to injury, there's another storm, presumably 'Eta,' forming now. I think we can all agree this is a 'WTF' moment. And get this. According to KTRK in Houston, if Eta forms, 2020 will tie 2005 for the most number of storms in a single Atlantic Hurricane season. FYI, the National Hurricane Center gives Eta a 70% probability of forming within the next five days. Then, if we get to Theta, and we could because the Atlantic hurricane season isn't over until November 30th, we'll be setting yet another record.
Screw this. I think I'm staying home. It's safer.
