IWSN...GNOC...PIR...POS...CU46...Those combinations of letters and numbers mean something very specific and unless you're in the know you have no idea what they mean. As a parent you probably know what LOL means but do you have any idea what the previous group of letters mean?

Tech savy or not, parents that want to know what their children are reading and texting need to know what those acronyms and others mean. So, IWSN can be used as a declarative statement for 'I want sex now' and if you were reading your child's text messages and saw GNOC, they were asked to 'get naked on camera'. The letters may seem harmless but can actually be harmful.

According to a TV interview, researchers have discovered that a majority of teens believe their parents are keeping tabs on their online and social media lives. There are many options for parents to use to try to decipher the texting code, but one of the best is by talking to your children and asking them what it means because the same acronym could mean something different in another part of the country.

Below are some acronyms that parents should pay attention to and if (or when) you read your child's text messages you'll see them in a whole new light.

IWSN – I want sex now
GNOC – Get naked on camera
NIFOC – Naked in front of computer
PIR – Parent in room
CU46 – See you for sex
53X – Sex
9 – Parent watching
99 – Parent gone
THOT – That hoe over there
Broken – Hungover from alcohol
POS – Parent over shoulder
SUGARPIC – Suggestive or erotic photo
(L)MIRL – Let’s meet in real life
TDTM – Talk dirty to me
8 – Oral sex
IPN – I’m posting naked
LH6 – Let’s have sex
WTTP – Want to trade pictures?
DOC – Drug of choice

Of course there are others and variations upon these because as parents clue in to what these group of letters and numbers mean, they'll be changed and end up meaning something completely different. You can stay up on the slang acronyms by asking your child what they mean and have an open line of communication with them.
