After days filled with rumor and innuendo, Adrian Peterson has confirmed he's the latest player to join the Black & Gold. Peterson tells ESPN's Josina Anderson Tuesday morning that he plans to sign with New Orleans Saints on a two-year deal that is effectively a 1-year deal plus a 1-year option.

According to Peterson, the deal is worth a base total value of $7 million. The maximum incentives packages is $8.25 million and whatever incentives reached in 2017 gets added to the per game roster bonuses in 2018.

"I am excited to be joining the New Orleans Saints," Peterson told Anderson. "I'm really looking forward to this opportunity. Most importantly, I chose this team because it just felt right within my spirit. Additionally, my wife and family added their confirmation with the same feelings."

AP is a big get for the Saints. Teaming the former NFL MVP with Mark Ingram is going to make the Saints' backfield a monster. With a defense that could still be classified as lackluster, ball control and the running game could make or break the Saints.

An official announcement from the Saints on Peterson's signing is expected to be made later today.
