Do you remember when traffic on I-49 in Desoto Parish came to a standstill earlier this month? It was a mammoth alligator our buddy Gary McCoy called it "Godzilla-ish" and he wasn't lying about this alligator on I-49, it was 13 feet long.

Enormous Alligator Stops All Traffic on I-49 in Desoto Parish

The Provenance Community in Shreveport Had A lot of Commotion Monday Evening.

Two alligators were swimming in the pond where several children play around. One alligator was a 12.5-foot alligator according to Megan Jimenez who took the photos.

Along with the mammoth gator, there was a baby gator trapped with it. Wildlife crews were called after the big gator was spotted and the Godzilla-like creatures were hauled away.

Although we may think that a 12.5 feet gator is a ginormous one that is nowhere near the record alligator found in the Bayou State. Louisana's record alligator was killed near Vermilion Bay in southern Louisiana in 1890. That one was reportedly 19.2 feet and weighed around 2,000 pounds.

Many parents in the Provenance neighborhood are concerned after this removal, could there be more alligators in the pond? Several kids in the neighborhood play around this pond daily. We are grateful that no one was hurt and that these alligators were caught and removed by wildlife officials as soon as they were seen in the pond.
