Here's past of an exam given to a class of 8th graders in rural Kentucky about 100 years ago...1912, to be exact. How do you think you, much less your own kids, would stack up?

It's Bullitt County Kentucky and it's 1912. Hardly anyone has a car, few folks have electricity and to many indoor plumbing is a dream. So how did middle schoolers from that era, absent the luxuries we all take for granted, manage to get an education that rivals some colleges today? Never mind your youngsters, do you think you could pass?
