Ark-La-Tex Woman Arrested In Mexico On Local Murder Charges

Authorities in Texarkana, Texas say they have custody of a woman wanted for murder in a case that dates back to 2012.

The Texarkana Police Department says they have taken possession of 38-year-old Alana Coleman, after she was arrested by US Marshal's in Mexico, and transported to Texarkana. Coleman was turned over to Texarkana Police on Monday.

Authorities have charged Coleman with Capital Murder in the 2012 death of 63-year-old Donald Ray Morris. According to previous reports, Morris was murdered in his apartment in August of 2012. Those reports say that Morris was found by the apartment management "covered in blood". Authorities say that Morris had been stabbed "multiple times", and police say they were able to connect Coleman to the killing with evidence they had gathered.

Back in 2012, Coleman was immediately named as a suspect, along with 26-year-old Daniel Cruz. At that time, Coleman already had existing warrants for Aggravated Robbery and Probation Violations, which were both pre-existing at the time of the murder. Police at the time believed both Coleman and Cruz to be armed and dangerous. They soon had learned that Coleman had crossed the US-Mexico border.

KTAL-TV reports that recently received "credible information" regarding Coleman's whereabouts. Texarkana Police then began working with the US Marshals in an effort to bring Coleman back to the United States. Which is exactly what the Marshals did late last week, when they located and arrested Coleman in Mexico.

She is now jailed in Texarkana.
