Baton Rouge 2nd Worst City To Drive In In America

When you've made a list, and ON that list, the only city in the nation that ranks worse than you is Detroit?  Well, that's a bad list. And Baton Rouge, our beloved Bayou State's Capitol City, has made that type of list. This time it's Worst City To Drive In In America! This according to a study done by personal finance website NerdWallet.

NerdWallet did  a study of nearly 200 of the most populous regions and based its rankings of the rate of fatal crashes, the likelihood of an accident, the number of years between crashes, risks for break ins and risk of having a vehicle stolen, And based on those numbers, only Detroit, ONLY DETROIT, is a worse city to drive in throughout the land!

Scott Kirkpatrick, with the Capitol Region Industries for Sustainable Infrastructure Solutions, stated the obvious when he said Baton Rouge ranks pretty low in all of those categories. "We obviously have a number of issues, all surrounding the same thing, how we move around this region.", Kirkpatrick says, adding, "It's safe to say driving around Baton Rouge is slow, bumpy, and dangerous."

Kirkpatrick says the public is frustrated and he hopes that can be channeled in the right direction and motivate Governor Edward's new task, formed to find ways to raise and spend money on our state's dilapidated roads, to come up with changes to the same old way of doing business. "And that's got to be around how we plan and design our roads, how we fund our roads, and how we fund our transportation improvements."
