Shreveport Police have charged a Baton Rouge man in connection with an alleged burglary and sexual assault inside a home in the Broadmoor neighborhood.

Officers were called to a home located in the 3400 block of Broadmoor Boulevard relative to a burglary in progress.  As officers were en route to the home, police dispatchers were communicating with the home owner who in the home at the time. Officers found the suspect standing in the home’s front door.

40 year old Torey Kirby was arrested after he was tazed because of his failure to cooperate.

Evidence was gathered suggesting  Kirby unlawfully entered the victim’s home and walked throughout the residence several minutes prior to locating and consuming alcoholic beverages belonging to the home. It was reported Kirby then located the home owner hiding inside her bedroom armed with a knife. Kirby reportedly exposed himself to the victim while verbally threatening to sexually assault her.  Following officer’s arrest of Kirby he was booked into the Shreveport City Jail on charges of burglary of an inhabited dwelling and later charged with attempted third degree rape for allegations associated with actions and remarks made to the victim while inside the residence.
