You might be surprised by which company put the most people to work in 2021. We were!

We've heard all about there being a hospital and a church on every corner in Shreveport-Bossier for years, but we had no idea how true that really was. That is if you go by which company employed the most people in 2021. However, this list doesn't differentiate between full and part-time status, etc... Zippia provided the raw data based on companies with the most employees physically headquartered in Shreveport-Bossier City in 2021,

1. Willis-Knighton Shreveport 7,078
2. Allegiance Health Management Shreveport 2,000
3. Boomtown Bossier City Bossier City 2,000
4. Sam’s Town Hotel Casino, Shreveport Shreveport 1,500
5. McElroy Metal Bossier City 1,259

The rest of this is my uneducated opinion, but how in the world is Barksdale Air Force Base or the City of Shreveport not in the top 5? Unless they're exempt because of being government entities? I admit that's a big assumption on my part. However, I think this list will look much different within a year's time. Yes, healthcare is clearly big business, but Amazon may end up giving them a run for their money. Plus, I'm hearing we're getting around 2,000 new airmen at Barksdale.

Then, there are the casinos who absolutely lost their shorts last year. With the smoking ban coming into effect soon, I see the casinos losing even more business, but it won't be the first time I've been wrong. With the loss of DiamondJacks in the market, maybe the other properties will see increased traffic? Will legalized sports betting save the day?

As for McElroy Metal, we're always breaking stuff. Even without new construction in the mix, McElroy has their job cut out for them replacing roofs alone in the bayou state.
