With Transformers: The Last Knight, Michael Bay has created an alternate universe in which giant robots in disguise have been helping humanity through every historical conflict you can imagine. In a video yesterday, Anthony Hopkins’ voiceover explained that they’ve “been here forever,” but exactly WHY Earth is so important to them remains a mystery. The Last Knight will explore a little of that history, from King Arthur to Japanese samurai, while also making a quick pit stop in the 1940s.

Yes, The Last Knight will feature at least a scene during that little skirmish we like to call World War II, and our robot boys will be there, Autobots helping Allies against the Nazis. Today, a new poster reveals Bumblebee’s new (old) look, and he’s just barely recognizable. Day-glo yellow with rally stripes probably would have been a little too conspicuous. Take a look below:

The Transformers official Twitter account also posted a few new images today of more robots during wartime, superimposed onto iconic images of history like a Jakub Rozalski painting.

The viral marketing sure is trying its best to build up a convincing history, but of course the real mystery of it all won’t be solved until we’re seated in the theater.

Transformers: The Last Knight rolls into theaters June 21.
