True beer drinkers know that being a beer connoisseur means more than grabbing a six pack on the way home on a Friday night. It means sampling beers from around the world, noting their taste, style and where and what they were brewed from.

Craft brewing by small, independent breweries has exploded in recent years and beer drinkers are in their own personal paradise! Especially here in Shreveport. No longer is Abita the only beer associated with the great state of Louisiana. Heck no, because in Shreveport/Bossier we now have Flying Heart Brewery, Great Raft Brewing and Red River Brewing!

Red River's slogan is 'Making Local Water Palatable since 2008,' and we couldn't agree more. Their line includes River Monster, Session 18 and my personal favorite, Hay Ryed! Red River even turns heads in south Louisiana with Acadiana's The Advertiser calling their brews '3 must-try Louisiana beers.'

While Red River Brewing starting selling beer in 2013, just recently they finished building their new brewery. So, what's the next step? Opening the tap room!

This Saturday is the grand opening of Red River Brewing's new tap room and production facility at 1200 Marshall Street in downtown Shreveport and it's a little piece of history because it just happens to be the first downtown brewery since we were afflicted with prohibition!

Join RRB this Saturday, April 2, 2016 from 2-9pm to celebrate the opening of their tap rooms with live music from Beaux Atkins and Monty Russell from 3-6:30pm. They'll start serving food including smoked chicken wings, pulled pork and brisket from Shadrach's at 5pm. Seems like a good time to me, maybe I'll see you there!
