Centenary College Offers Online Easter Sunrise Service
The COVID-19 outbreak in the State of Louisiana is going to cause many to miss their traditional Easter celebrations. The state-wide shutdown orders will keep residents away churches and large gatherings this weekend.
But that doesn't mean that you have to miss the East celebrations. Centenary College in Shreveport is stepping up to help those who will be at home celebrate the holy day. The school will have a special video service, including an introduction from Centenary's Dr. David Hobson, the Director of Centenary's Choir. The Sunday Service video will include a performance from the Centenary Choir as well.
Centenary College released a statement on their special Easter presentations. The release reads, in part:
The sunrise service program features a presentation of the Passion and Resurrection narratives expressed through dramatic readings and music. The anthems for the service range from hymn arrangements to spirituals to classic selections from Handel’s Messiah and Dubois’ Seven Last Words. Singers include members of the Centenary College Choir and community singers."
In addition to the Sunrise Service video presentation, Centenary will have a special edition of the This Is Centenary Podcast, that will include an archived performance of the Centenary Choir from Brown Chapel in 2014. You can find the podcast site for Centenary right here.
