March Madness comes a day early for the Centenary Gents Men's Basketball team, as they start the Southern Collegiate Athletic Conference basketball tournament today. Centenary comes into the tournament with the Number 1 seed.

This is the first time the Centenary Men's Basketball team has ever had a Number 1 seed in a postseason tournament in school history.

Centenary enters the tournament with a 16-9 record overall, and a 13-5 SCAC record. The number 2 seed in the tournament is Austin College, who have a 14-10 overall record, and an SCAC record of 11-7.

A victory in the tournament would set up the Gents for a run at the NCAA Division III, by guaranteeing them a NCAA D3 tournament berth.

The Gents' first SCAC game is Saturday, February 29, at noon against Schreiner University in Kerrville, Texas.

The Gents are led by SCAC Player of the Year favorite Cedric Harris from Shreveport's C.E. Byrd High School, and Ralph Johnson from New Iberia Senior High School.
