China Is Looking To End Funeral Strippers

Yes, in parts of China it is a long tradition of having strippers at your funeral. Now the reasoning behind the funeral dancers is different in different areas with some claiming it's paying tribute to fertility and others looking to have large crowds. It's seen as good luck and honoring the dead to have a large crowd for your funeral so the dancers are used to attract more people. Some people even make their living off being paid funeral goers which is now spreading as a world wide trend.

The Global Times says "Chinese rural households are more inclined to show off their disposable incomes by paying out several times their annual income for actors, singers, comedians, and - most recently, strippers - to comfort the bereaved and entertain the mourners." There's now a hotline you can call to report the exotic dancers at funerals to China's Ministry of Culture.
