Pop sensation Christina Aguilera has signed on for a multi-episode appearance in ABC's hit musical drama, Nashville.

According to People, she will play a pop superstar whose ultimate dream is to record a country album. However, Aguilera's character will face backlash from her label, who doesn't want her to break out of her established genre. Nashville has showcased a roster of real-life country singers including Sara Evans, Luke Bryan, the Band Perry, Florida Georgia Line, Trisha Yearwood and others. However, so far only Kelly Clarkson has represented the pop world on the popular television show, and she's more of a crossover.

This will be the Grammy-winning Aguilera's first time on a major primetime drama. While music is her first love, she enjoys dabbling in film and television. In 2010, the 34-year-old singer acted in the film Burlesque and played herself in the Russell Brand comedy Get Him to the Greek. She is also a coach on NBC's The Voice. Aguilera took a few seasons off from to record her latest album and welcome her second child, who was born last year. But she is excited about reprising her role on the reality show, where she finds a seat near country's own Blake Shelton.

In addition, Aguilera is planning her own television series for ABC Family. Currently titled Hearts and Clubs, the scripted show will follow the love lives of Las Vegas performers and entertainers.

The dates for Aguilera's Nashville performance have not yet been announced. The series airs Wednesdays at 10PM ET on ABC.
