Closings and Road Conditions for Thursday, May 9th
Our phone lines are going nuts this morning with updates from folks around the Ark-La-Tex reporting storm damange, fallen trees, high water on roads, as well as road and school closings. Here's the latest.
Both the Bossier and Caddo Parish school boards have issued statements saying that buses may be delayed this morning due to high water in areas, especially in the Haughton area.
As of this morning at just after 5:00 am, SWEPCO was still reporting over 41,000 customers without power... and that's just their customers.
Cypress Lake and Black Bayou are closed to boat traffic. Also, the road leading into Cypress Black Bayou Recreation Area is closed. To access the park, please use Downs Dr.
The Federal Courthouse in Shreveport is closed today due to a power outage. Eden Gardens, Caddo Middle Magnet, JS Clark, Green Oaks, Pine Grove & Ombudsman are also closed. CLTCC in Natchitoches and the Sabine Valley Campuses are closed. Herndon Magnet is closed today because they don't have water.
Here are some places where you'll have trouble getting into work or school this morning.
*I-20 both east and westbound at the state line near Greenwood is closed.
*HWY 79 near Greenwood, just south of I-20 has a tree across the road. HWY 79 in Panola is down to one lane because the river is flooding onto the road.
*High water reported North Market at Hearne Avenue.
*Traffic is blocked North Market at Grimmett Drive. The picture you see above is from that area.
*Winnfield Road and Wafer Road in Haughton both have high standing water
*A portion of Princeton Road, near Princeton Elementary has had a wash out on the shoulder.
*Litton Road has a wash out under one lane.
*Allentown Road going to Haughton High School is closed. You'll have to take W. McKinley to get there today.
*Report that traffic lights are out Hillary Huckabee off of I-220.
*Hearne at Midway still closed
*HWY 80 west is closed between Dixie Inn and Goodwill Road near the Ammunition Plant.

*HWY 164 between Sibley and Doyline
*Tree down at 528 and Goodwill Road
*Water on the road at Johnson Koran
*Water reported HWY 157 in south Bossier
*Main Street in Blanchard
*Bellevue Road in Haughton
*Fox Chase Subdivision in Haughton (some residents have been evacuated)
