Could DiamondJacks Be Leaving Bossier?
The owners of Diamondjacks Casino in Bossier are weighing their options for the future. The casino is considering either spending over 100 million dollars to upgrade and expand their facility in Bossier or move their operations and build a new casino east of Baton Rouge.
“Louisianans deserve the best and we look forward to creating a destination that is both fun, successful and rewarding to the community and the state. In either of these two locations, we will be able to create economic development and drive revenue into critical public sectors like infrastructure, education and quality of life,” Peninsula Pacific, the company that owns DiamondJacks, said in a statement.
The company has said the Bossier facility needs a major facelift and a move down south would put them closer to the Mississippi and St Tammany Parish gaming markets.
However, the company's decision to move or not won't be entirely up to them. Moving the license would require approval of voters in Tangipahoa Parish, the Legislature and the Louisiana Gaming Control Board.
