This is National Travel and Tourism Week and what better place to be a tourist than in your own state? Louisiana has a lot to offer in the line of interesting places and people. As a matter of fact the Creole Nature Trail has been nominated for USA Today and Rand McNally's "Best of the Road" as a part of their search for the Best Small Towns in America.
There are 28 points of interest on the Creole Nature Trail, beginning in Lake Charles Louisiana, that have been nominated as "best places."
I've only been to a one of the "best places," Lake Charles, and that means I have some work to do. Here is a full list of the best points of interest nominated:
Southwest Louisiana Convention & Visitors Bureau
Sabine National Wildlife Refuge
Hog Island Gully Recreation Area
Peveto Woods Bird & Butterfly Sanctuary
Calcasieu Ship Channel/Cameron Ferry
Cameron Jetties Fishing Pier & RV Park
Pintail Wildlife Drive & Boardwalk
Cameron Prairie National Wildlife Refuge
Lacassine Wildlife Drive/Lacassine Pool
Lacassine National Wildlife Refuge
Have you been to any of these wonderful places you can ONLY find in Louisiana? Well, if you have you can visit bestoftheroad.com and vote for your favorite and give you own review! You will need to hurry as voting ends on May 15, 2012.
So, what's in it for the winners? The points of interest receiving the most votes will be listed on Rand McNally's GPS devices, its online maps, in blog posts and as part of a Rand McNally e-book created for the NOOK Tablet. Every review of a place, regardless of the category selected, will count as a vote!!
