The Shreveport Police Department released the final crime stats for 2016 and they are far from positive. Compared to numbers from 2015, homicides double, rapes increased nearly 30%, armed robbery rose 14% and aggravated assault climbed 16%.

Corporal Marcus Hines says that the new administration, under Chief Crump's leadership, hopes to bring those numbers down drastically in 2017. He hopes that their efforts will bring the community and police together to put a stop to senseless crime.
