Last year, when Jeremy Gallman of the North West Louisiana High School Fishing League first told me what local kids were doing, I have to admit, I got a big lump in my throat.

Local high school and junior high school anglers put together a bass tournament just for the sake of raising toys to be donated to other local, less fortunate kids.

Think of how beautiful that picture truly is. It's kids helping kids! And man, did they help. We were blown away with the volume of presents they donated.

Thanks to Jeremy, I found out they are doing it again this year!

It's the Annual "Fishin' for a Mission Bass Tournament" and it's being put on by the North Louisiana High School Fishing League and the North Louisiana Junior Fishing League!

The tournament will be just for kids this Saturday, December 10 on Cross Lake!

Entry fee is one new bicycle from the youth anglers and one new toy from the boat captain of each team. All of these toys will go to local kids here in the Shreveport/Bossier area.

Registration will be conducted this Friday, December 9 at 6:00 pm at Bayou Outdoor Powersports on East Texas in Bossier City and they'll provide a free meal for all contestants and boat captains.

It will be a trailering event. First cast will be at 6:30 am with weigh in for the juniors to be at 1:00 pm and high schoolers will weigh in at 2:00 pm.

Prizes will be provided to first through fifth place finishers and for the big bass of the tournament.
