It’s been some time since we’ve had any updates on the David Fincher-Charlize Theron Netflix investigative drama Mindhunter, but all that changes today. The new Fincher-directed series starring Jonathan Groff and Fringe alum Anna Torv has a first teaser, along with an October premiere.

The series is adapted from John Douglas and Mark Olshanker’s 1996 book Mind Hunter: Inside the FBI’s Elite Serial Crime Unit, which Theron herself held the rights to, developing an adaptation over the last few years. The Road scribe Joe Penhall wrote the script, with Fincher and Theron executive producing, and Fincher directing. The book itself follows Douglas’ decades developing criminal profiling techniques and tracking down serial killers for the FBI.

So reads the Netflix synopsis:

MINDHUNTER features Jonathan Groff (Looking), Holt McCallanay (Sully), Anna Torv (Fringe) and Hannah Gross (Unless). The series is directed by David Fincher (Gone Girl, The Social Network, Zodiac), Asif Kapadia (Amy, Senna), Tobias Lindholm (A War, A Hijacking) and Andrew Douglas (The Amityville Horror, U Want Me 2 Kill Him?). Fincher, Joshua Donen (Gone Girl, The Quick and the Dead) Charlize Theron (Girlboss, Hatfields & McCoys) and Cean Chaffin (Gone Girl, Fight Club) are Executive Producers.

We’ll hear more in the coming months, but sneak a peek at Fincher’s latest above, and stay tuned.
