Disney Infinity is Free for Wii U on Nintendo eShop

The Nintendo eShop has started letting would-be toy masters download Disney Infinity for free on Wii U.

According to Polygon, Wii U owners can now download the original Disney Infinity game from the Nintendo eShop for free, offering all sorts of crazy adventures to be had featuring your favorite Disney characters. Even though the Wii U's GamePad has NFC capabilities (which Nintendo's Amiibo figures will use), you're still going to need to buy the game's base and at least one Infinity figure to play the game. Both of these items can be found within a Disney Infinity starter pack, which can be found at most toy stores and video game retailers. By downloading Disney Infinity through the Nintendo eShop, you get the Toy Box level designer (which uses the GamePad screen), Infinity's multiplayer and the full single-player game.

Disney Infinity 2.0 launches for PlayStation 3, PlayStation 4, Wii U, Xbox 360 and Xbox One on Sept. 23. We're particularly looking forward to 2.0 because it will be introducing dozens of Marvel superheroes and villains to the Disney universe.
