As Hurricane Dorian approaches the Bahamas, it is now Category 5 hurricane with maximum sustained winds of 180 mph.

Dorian is expected to cause life-threatening storm surge of up to 20 feet in the Bahamas as it makes landfall as a catastrophic Cat 5 hurricane today. Wind gusts of over 200 mph are possible in parts of the northwest Bahamas.

As far as what the east coast of the United States can expect from Hurricane Dorian, it looks like it's going to be a long week.

Hurricane watches have been issued for parts of Florida's eastern coast. Dorian is is still a threat to Florida, Georgia, South Carolina, North Carolina and southeast Virginia as it's expected to skirt the entire coast.
