The news is so good this year when it comes to crawfish, an honest-to-goodness expert in the matter had to be brought in to explain it.

We all knew that something awesome was going on when the announcement was made last year that crawfish season was starting before Christmas. The latest news from farmers, retailers, and restaurant owners is that prices are currently around half of what they were last year.  On top of that, the supply is around triple what we saw in 2019!  If things keep going they way they are now, we'll have as much inexpensive crawfish as we can eat all season long!

According to LSU AgCenter’s Aquaculture Research Station professor Greg Lutz, weather patterns in late summer and early fall of 2019 creating a perfect storm of conditions.  He told the Shreveport Times that farmers are dropping prices to make room for more crawfish.  With the amount rain we've had combined with optimal temperatures - the farms fill up as soon as we can empty them.

I don't know about you, but I intend on doing my part.
