Lieutenant Governor Billy Nungesser and the Louisiana Seafood Promotion and Marketing Board have announced the finalists for one of the premiere events in our state, the official Louisiana Seafood Cook-Off. The competition is usually held in conjunction with the kickoff to the annual "Eat Lafayette" campaign in June, but, like everything else, it was delayed due to the coronavirus pandemic.

The chefs who were chosen as finalists will represent their areas of the state at a virtual competition on Monday, September 26, and Tuesday, September 27. Each chef will be assigned a designated time to create their masterpieces, and all will be recorded to view on Thursday, October 15th. At that time the public will be invited to vote for their favorites for the "People's Choice" Award. Voting will continue through Monday, October 27th at the Seafood Board website, and also on the official event Facebook page.

In a press release, Nungesser stated "Since we can’t be together, we are bringing the competition to the people of Louisiana through a virtual event, recipes they can recreate in their kitchens, and a chance to show these chefs their appreciation for continuing the great culinary traditions that have made Louisiana a place where you can Feed Your Soul.”
