This morning, it was announced by Adam Schefter that the NFL's Washington Redskins have chosen a new name, for the current season at least. It was confirmed the new name is only temporary until a new name comes about.

For at least the 2020-2021 season, the team will now be called the Washington Football Team. This is according to a Twitter post by NFL insider Adam Schefter, @AdamSchefter.

After checking the former team's Twitter handle, @Redskins, it indeed no longer exists. It has been replaced, quickly, by @WashingtonNFL.

Fans of the former Redskins team name are not very happy with the new name outcome, even if it is just for a short amount of time.

The former name has been around for over 85 years, but with recent social change and the team's financial sponsors beginning to push back, the Washington Football Team has taken the next step, sort of, to renaming. There is no word yet as to what the new final name will be, but it is obvious they were serious when they said they were changing their name.
