Back in April, we told you that the parent company of Fred's Super Dollar Stores had announced that nearly 160 stores would be closing including the stores on Shed Road in Bossier and Old Mooringsport Road in Shreveport. The company said those locations would be closing their doors by the end of May.

Yesterday the company announced plans to close 104 more locations, including the one on Airline Drive in Bossier City, across the Gulf South in an effort to streamline the company and make it more profitable.

In a press release from the company, CEO Joseph Anto said,

These additional store closures are a difficult, but necessary step in the continued restructuring of Fred’s.

The press release went on to say that liquidation of inventory at the affected stores was scheduled to begin today.
