Some things really never change. Fifty years ago, when I was a child, Trick or Treating on the streets of North Shreveport and Blanchard, my parents were concerned about safety.

I can recall that even local hospitals back then would volunteer to X-Ray kids' Halloween candy for the possibility that someone had spiked it with needles or razor blades. (I honestly don't recall of any kid's candy ever being deemed unsafe, but they still did it)

Fast forward to today, 2021, and parents are still concerned for the safety of their little ones on Halloween night.

To help with those insecure feelings, a number of local organizations have stepped forward to provide what I would deem the safest Halloween festivities anywhere.

Hey, when the event is being held at Caddo Sheriff's Safety Town, and it's hosted by the Shreveport Police, Shreveport Fire Department, Shreveport City Marshall's Office, Louisiana Probation and Parole, Caddo Parish Sheriff's Office, Centenary College, Shreveport Military Entrance Program and the Louisiana State Police, it's GOT to be safe, right?

This Friday night, October 29, they're hosting a special walk through Halloween Trunk or Treat from 5:00 pm to 7:00 pm.

They'll have candy for all the kids and some special treats and it's free!  And parents can rest assured their babies are safe!
