Two people died and a little over a dozen homes were destroyed Saturday when an EF-3 tornado ripped through parts of St. Landry Parish.

If you would like to be able to help the victims of the tornado, you can donate to a fund that has been set up by the Hope Alliance Community Development Corporation, and it's being administered by the Community Foundation of Acadiana. You can click here to donate.

The tornado moved through near Palmetto at around 2 o'clock Saturday morning, and before the tornado was through, it had traveled a path that was 8.7 miles long. Officials say the path went down Bolden Road to the south and northeast up Louisiana Highway 360.

You can either donate online, or if you prefer to, you can send a check via mail to the Community Foundation of Acadiana, but make sure that you put a note in the Memo section of your check that reads, Hope Alliance. The address for the Community Foundation is 1035 Camellia Blvd., Suite 100, Lafayette, LA 70508.

St. Landry Parish President Jessie Bellard says,

Some families have lost everything. They have nothing left. Any support we can provide them will be greatly appreciated. This is what St. Landry Parish does best. We help our neighbors.

If there is a question you need answered, you can call CFA at 337-769-4843, or you can send them an email by using this address: donorservices@cfacadiana.org.
