It's that time of the year again when people are starting to think about getting outdoors, and even planning vacations. But if you're like me, champagne dreams on a Big K Cola budget, you might consider staying closer to home.  But there's good news.  North Louisiana is home to several beautiful parks that offer a variety of activities and scenery.  Last year, my wife booked a cabin at Lake Claiborne for a long weekend.  We had other family come out and kind of made an impromtu family reunion and had a great weekend.

Here are some of the best parks to visit in the region:
