See Pics Of Green Day’s F1 Concert in Austin, Texas
Green Day, Texas, and Formula 1 Racing...these things may not make a lot of sense together, but they all mashed up this past weekend.
When the celebration around the United States Grand Prix was hitting fever pitch, one of the most legendary punk rock bands of all time turned it up. Grammy Award winning Rock & Roll Hall of Famers Green Day took the stage on Friday night to headline the opening night of the 10th Annual Formula1 United States Grand Prix at the Circuit of the Americas in Austin, Texas.
We're not sure how serious Green Day singer Billie Joe Armstrong was when he said it, but he did tell the Texas crowd that this would be their "last show" for a while. But he was apparently full of piss and vinegar all night, yelling about Texas, and poking fun at anything he could.
The setlist was pretty impressive, which isn't hard for a band with the resume of Green Day. Their shows are essentially "Best Of" albums performed live. Just check out the 20 songs, including covers, they knocked out for the racing event:
Know Your Enemy
Boulevard of Broken Dreams
Welcome to Paradise
Hitchin' a Ride
Rock and Roll All Nite (KISS cover)
When I Come Around
Knowledge (Operation Ivy cover)
King for a Day
Shout (The Isley Brothers cover)
Wake Me Up When September Ends
Jesus of Suburbia
Good Riddance (Time of Your Life)
Again, pretty surreal to mix these three elements (Green Day, Texas, and F1 Racing), but it happened, and it looked pretty cool. Check out some pictures from the concert here:
