The cranes are down, but there is a lot still to do at the site of the Hard Rock Hotel in New Orleans' French Quarter. Late Sunday afternoon, the blast was felt across the city as two cranes were imploded. It comes less than a week since the building, which is under construction at the corner of Canal and North Rampart streets, partially collapsed. A moving crane is believed to have been the cause.

After hours of delays, the cranes came crashing down with much of the debris landing on North Rampart Street.

Nearby businesses including the famed Saenger Theater have been shuttered during the demolition process and at least one lawsuit has been filed. Lafayette-based Lemoine Disaster Recovery has played a key role in the demolition process. Reports from New Orleans say the delay is due to the failure by the developers to pay $5 million before the demolition could begin.
